"Heyr, himna smiður" by Þorkell Sigurbjörnsson (1938–2013), thanks to the serendipity of a performance by our friends Árstíðir in a German train station, has become a world classic. Kolbeinn Tumason wrote the original hymn text, and Sigurbjörnsson has created a setting that is quintessentially Icelandic. When we listen to this iconic hymn we become enveloped in all that wild beauty, in that unique world.
